「アーティスト・ファイル」展は、現在の --そしてこれからの-- 美術動向を、国立新美術館が独自の視点で切り取って、毎年定期的に紹介していく、新しい展覧会プロジェクト。特に決まったテーマを設けることなく、推薦する作家、紹介したい作家を持ち寄ったなかから、今回は8名の作家が選び出され、グループ展が構成されました。参加アーティストはオーストラリアの女性写真作家であるポリクセニ・パパペトルーをはじめ、エリナ・ブロテルス、市川武史、ポリクセニ・パパペトルー、佐伯洋江、さわひらき、白井美穂、祐成政徳、竹村京。
写真、映像、インスタレーション、ドローイングと、作家たちが用いる表現メディアは様々です。また、それぞれに扱っているテーマも異なっています。しかしながら、その作品からは、今日の社会や文化、政治的状況をふまえながら、自らの世界を真摯に追求しているアーティストのみが持つ、アクチュアリティを感じることができるのではないでしょうか。交通や通信の飛躍的な発展を背景として、さまざまな物語や価値観が並び立つ新たな風景が、21世紀を生きる私たちのまわりには広がっています。「アーティスト・ファイル」展は、このような現代にあって、多様化していく芸術表現の豊かさに触れる機会となるでしょう。
