2009年8月19日（水）、オーストラリアが世界に誇るロックバンドJET（ジェット）待望の新作であり、EMI移籍第一弾となるアルバム『シャカ・ロック（Shaka Rock）』』が日本先行発売されました（US8月25日発売）。

カリスマ性と伝統的なロックンロールのエネルギーを、パンクのふてぶてしさや現代的な感性と融合し、独自性を築き上げてきたＪＥＴ。2003年リリースのデビュー・アルバム『ゲット・ボーン（Get Born）』は全世界で400万枚というセールスを達し、”Are Your Gonna Be My Girl”、”Cold Hard Bitch”といったヒット曲を生み出し、2000年代、世界的に最も成功したオーストラリアのアーティストの1つとなりました。、2006年の『シャイン・オン（Shine On）』でオーストラリア本国だけでなく、世界各国でマルチ・プラチナを達成し、国際的な成功を収めてきました。

そのJETが2009年6月、EMIミュージックへの移籍と通算3作目となる待望の新作『シャカ・ロック』の世界発売を発表、ファンから熱い期待が寄せられていました。

過去のヒット作に引けをとらない新作『シャカ・ロック』は、『ゲット・ボーン』の原点である手付かずの荒削り感と、やはり名作として名高い2ndアルバム『シャイン・オン（Shine On)』が持っていた洗練さ、メロディー、この２つの要素を見事に統合することに成功しました。カリスマ性とクラシック・ロックのエネルギーを備え、絶妙なパンク・フィーリングとコンテンポラリーな才能が付加されたサウンドは、JET'N'ROLLとも呼ぶべき個性を創り出しています。

JETは、7月25日、アルバム発売前の絶好のタイミングで日本の「FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '09」GREEN STAGEに登場。FUJI ROCKは彼らが初めて日本でプレイした地でもあり（2003年）、”ホーム・カミング”な雰囲気。過去のヒット・アンセムはもちろん、日本で初めてプレイされた新作『シャカ・ロック』からの曲も凄まじい盛り上がりを見せ、ステージは熱狂の渦に！彼らの「何回聴いても圧倒される」パフォーマンスと、「何回聴いても飽きることのない」楽曲の強さを、オーディエンスに見せ付けたステージでした。

『シャカ・ロック』は、リフ、ビート、そしてメロディの3拍子揃ったナンバーばかり。メンバーが、「今回このアルバムに関しては、プロデューサーやレコード会社からは何の指図も受けなかったんだ。今回のアルバムを作るに当たっては、前よりずっと気楽に、自分たち自身で指揮を執ることができたんだ」と語る通り、原点回帰した音作りにバンドの自信が伺えます。

現在、ラジオ等でオンエア中のリード・シングル「She's A Genius（シーズ・ア・ジーニアス）」も、「待ってました！」と言わずにいられない程、痛快なJET節が炸裂しています。

【JET（ジェット）について】
マルチ・プラチナを達成したオーストラリア発のロックバンド。Nic Cester （ボーカル・ギター）、Chris Cester （ドラムス、ボーカル）、Cam Muncey（ギター、ボーカル）、Mark Wilson（ベース、ボーカル）の4人からなる。
