Norwood Bears Volley Ball Club

2008年の南オーストラリア州のバレーボールリーグチャンピオンになったNorwood『Bears』から、14人の選手と関係者が来日し、10月7日～18日の11日間の滞在期間中、新潟県六日町市との交流プログラムの一環として、バレーボールを通した地域交流活動を行いました。

昨日、オーストラリア大使館で行われたアフタヌーンティーにご招待いただいたのですが、
ハンドメードのケーキやお茶を楽しみながら30分くらい経つと、ほとんどの選手達が大使館の子供達と一緒にサッカーやフットボールを楽しんでいる様子は、オーストラリア人らしいなと思わず笑ってしまいました(笑)

オーストラリアバレーボール選手団

派遣団代表のAndrew Hunter氏によると、彼はスポーツという非言語コミュニケーションにおける文化交流の可能性を信じており、今後もバレーボールというスポーツを通して日豪交流の活動を続けていきたいということでした。

彼らは、この交流事業を今後も継続していくために、スポンサーシップの募集なども含めて活動を行っているということです。
